Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” The New Year stirs within us hopes and dreams for the future. True, it is a time to reflect on the year past, but primarily it is a time of resolution of how we will somehow be better this year than last. Many of us look hopefully to this being the year of improving our lives, breaking some bad habit, restoring neglected relationships or any number of positive improvements. The New Year is a time of hope and encouragement of what our future holds for us. It is good to know that God also has good plans for his people. He wants us to succeed, to prosper; to enjoy life. It is His plan to hold in store for us good things; as if he had so many gifts He desires to give us. As I read through God’s Word, I find that He is revealing Himself to me as the God who loves me, desires my companionship, and is earnestly seeking to bestow upon me His goodness in so many ways. I am reminded of this wonderful children’s song that simply says; “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” In Jeremiah 29:11, He lets us in on a little information concerning His character—that He cares for us and has great plans for His people. With that revelation He also gives us an invitation; “seek me with all your heart” I am looking for a good year; one that will be blessed by His great and precious promises. I have this hope because my New Year’s resolution is that I will seek God with all my heart. I hope you will join me. Pastor John Bremer
